Plow AR196 D-IHQI (prototype), 1938, 1:72, Oxford
The Arado was a German reconnaissance seaplane that served aboard many of the most famous German Navy ships of the time, including the Graf Spee and the Bismarck. Designed by Walter Blume, more than 500 were built by the Arado company between 1939 and 1944. The Arado AR 196 was a great success and appreciated by its pilots for its easy handling both on land and in water.
For its last livery, this prototype of the Plow AR was designed at the end of 1938, designated Werks Nummer 2590. Plow was responding to a request from the German Air Ministry for the successor of He.114, which had to be able to operate both on land Like at sea Plow was the only designer / manufacturer to present a low-wing monoplane, unlike competing airplanes. The German Air Ministry was so convinced that they ordered an initial prototype.
This replica of the Plow 196 is decorated in a light gray beige with silver floats, in turn decorated with red tips. The cabin is grayish green and the plane also has dark green propeller blades. The alphanumeric letters are printed in black along the sides of the fuselage and the upper wings with a final detail of the German swastika in the black / white tail of a red band. It also reproduces the gun in the back of the cabin.
