Bedford Truck QLR, 79th Armored Division NWE, United Kingdom, 1944, 1:76, Oxford
At the start of World War II, Bedford was hired by the British War Office to produce a 3-ton 4x4 general service truck. A pilot model was ready in February 1940 and mass production began in March 1941. The Bedford QL was in production from 1941 to 1945 and was the first series of Bedford vehicles built for the British Armed Forces evolving to be used in numerous military activities during the conflict. This version is based on the Bedford QLR as a signal vehicle. For its second deployment, it was used as the 79th Armored Division used it during the North-Western Europe Campaign in 1944, when smaller detachments clashed in the Battles of Normandy, the Scheldt, the Geilenkirchen Overhang and then in 1945 at the Rhine crossings and Elbe and the Roer Triangle. The QLR was mainly used by the British army, although Canadian and US units were also trained to use this specially armored vehicle for their best advantage. The insignia of the Unit was a black bull's head with nostrils superimposed on an inverted yellow triangle, which appeared on all vehicles. This model is presented in an olive green scheme with white letters and military markings, one of which is worthy of mention, the finely detailed Unit insignia, the furious bull, as described above.
