The SMS Lützow was the second battle cruiser of the Derfflinger class built by the German Imperial Navy before the First World War. In charge of replacing the old protected cruiser SMS Kaiserin Augusta, the Lützow was launched on November 29, 1913, although it was not completed until 1916. It was a twin ship of the SMS Derfflinger, of which it only differed in that it was armed with two additional cannons. 150 mm in its secondary battery and had a more watertight compartment in its helmet. He received the name of the Prussian general Ludwig Adolf Wilhelm von Lützow, who fought in the Napoleonic Wars.
