Sherman Mk III, 10th Armored Division, US Army, 1942, 1:76, Oxford
This Sherman is based on the M4A2 Sherman Mk III medium tank manufactured in the United States. Under a Loan-Lease agreement with the Allies, the majority of its diesel variant production was shipped across the Atlantic between April 1942 and May 1945, during which time more than 8,000 tanks were manufactured. The British baptized the American tanks with names of the Civil War Generals, hence the name Sherman. The Sherman, deployed by the 10th Armored Division (United Kingdom), which was an amalgam of the 1st Cavalry Regiment, a Yeomanry unit of 1st TA line, which had previously served in Palestine. The division varied to the battleships in 1941 and had a force of between 13,000 and 14,000 men with 186 tanks, which saw action in the Middle East and in the battles of North Africa. This replica is one of the Division Sherman Mk III tanks decorated in a beige and dark green camouflage scheme with black tracks. The round logo of the RAF is located on the upper side of the tank, which bears the military number T743480. An additional feature includes the formation sign of the 10th Armored Division: a fox mask, which represents the hunting tradition of the cavalry of the formation and the Yeomanry units, which appear in the front and back of the tank.
