HISTORY
Bram Van Der Stok was not only the most successful aviator in Dutch history, but also one of the three men who achieved freedom as a result of the 'Great Escape'. He made several attempts to escape to England before succeeding in arriving in Scotland in 1941. Between February and April 1942 he signed a downing of a Bf109 and damaged another three by flying with the 41 and 91 squads. On April 12, 1942 Van Der Stok was shot down while flying a Spitfire Mk.Vb BL595 being taken prisoner.
He was the 18th prisoner to escape the German camp, crossing much of Europe before arriving in Spain.He again joined squadron 91 and flew over Normandy during the landings of the landing. He continued flying until the end of the war.
