Submarine U-255, Germany, World War II, 1: 350, Editions Atlas
The U-255 was a submarine type VIIC that served in the Kriegsmarine of Nazi Germany during the Second World War. It was put into service on November 29, 1941 under the command of Kapitänleutnant Reinhart Reche. One of the most lethal submarines in the Arctic. He acted from Norway during 1942-43 and then from France, in 1944-45, sailing in 15 combat patrols, sinking ten merchant ships and damaging another enough to be written off as a total loss. He also sank the escort USS Leopold (DE-319) of the Edsall class. At the end of the war the U-255 surrendered to the British and was sunk during Operation Deadlight on December 13, 1945.
