Submarine U-9, Germany, World War II, 1: 350, Editions Atlas
The German submarine U-9 was a submarine type IIB of the Kriegsmarine of the Nazi Germany. His keel was placed on February 8, 1935 by Germaniawerft, in Kiel. It was put into service on August 21, 1935 with the Korvettenkapitän Hans-Günther Looff in command.
The U-9 led 19 patrols under a series of commanders, including the ace of submarines Wolfgang Lüth, sinking eight ships among which was the coastal submarine of the French Sirène class Doris.
The U-9 was sunk by Soviet bombs on August 20, 1944. It was later repaired by the Soviets and put into service again as TS-16, but in December 1946 it was discharged in service due to its low performance. Corvette Captain Ludwig Mathes commanded it from October 1, 1937 to September 18, 1939.
