Auxiliary Cruise Komet, Kriegsmarine, 1940, 1: 1250, DeAgostini
The Komet was a merchant ship reformed and armed for the commercial war in the Second World War. The Kriegsmarine called it Boat 45 (Schiff 45). Under the denomination of Cruise of Commercial Interference 7 (Handelsstörkreuzer 7, HSK 7), it was used like commercial cruise. The British Navy called it Raider B. With the help of Soviet icebreakers, the Komet passed in July 1940 by the Route from Northwest to the Pacific. There he attacked the island Nauru, producer of phosphates. He returned to Hamburg on November 30, 1941, after 516 days of sailing. The attempt to leave again failed on October 14, 1942, when in front of the Cape de la Hague, the Komet was torpedoed by an English motorboat and sank with all its crew (251 men).
